“My son was excited to start this program. He said ‘definitely yes!’ when I asked if he wanted to read it and commit to it. That kind of enthusiasm is exactly what I want for his learning and growth.”Parent of a 10-year-old
Dax has a huge imagination, a good heart, and a head that can get pretty noisy.
When “Stink Think” starts piling up, Dax discovers that all that doubt, worry, fear, and “I can’t” chatter can grow into Blah Blah Blobs.
Then he meets MAX, his Inner Super Power, or I.S.P., who teaches him how to Power Think and create the Power Pods that are strong enough to take on those pesky Blobs.
Dax to the MAX: Blah Blah Blobs vs. Power Pods turns confidence, courage, and self-talk into an adventure kids can understand, remember, and bring back into their own lives.
A missed shot becomes, “I’m terrible at this.” A mistake becomes, “I always mess up.” A new experience becomes scary before it even begins.
Parents hear these thoughts come out as frustration, worry, quitting, shutting down, or refusing to try again, although the conversation happening inside a child’s head can be much harder to see.
Scott calls that inner chatter “Stink Think,” and in Dax’s imagination it grows into the gooey, slimy Blah Blah Blobs.
The Blobs feed on the thoughts that tell Dax he can’t, he’ll mess up, or he’d be safer giving up. Turning that chatter into a character gives kids a picture for what is happening in their own heads, which makes the conversation much easier to have.
Once the Blob has a name, it becomes easier to talk about.
“Is that you talking right now... or is a Blob getting loud?”
MAX is Dax “to the MAX-imum”... Dax at his very best. He shows Dax that the Blobs don’t disappear by pretending fear isn’t there. Dax learns how to Power Think even when a hard moment doesn’t go the way he hoped.
As their adventure unfolds, MAX teaches Dax how Power Thinking creates Power Pods, which are strong enough to defeat the Blobs that Stink Think creates.
Dax begins to Prax being “Tougher Than His Fears,” learning to keep himself Powered-UP whether he gets the hit, scores the goal, answers correctly, or has to try again.
The adventure gives a child a fun way to meet the ideas first, while everyday life gives them places to practice.
A hard assignment, walking into a new group, missing the shot, losing the game, trying again after getting embarrassed, or feeling nervous before performing can all become moments where the language from Dax suddenly makes sense.
Instead of starting a heavy conversation from scratch, a parent can ask about the Blob, the Power Pod, or what MAX might say next.
Notice the chatter that is feeding the Blob before it takes over the whole moment.
Power Think on purpose and give the helpful thought more strength than the Blob.
Practice staying Powered-UP through mistakes, misses, nerves, and the moments that take another try.
The story gives families shared language for conversations that can otherwise feel surprisingly hard to begin.
Dax’s world is imaginative enough to keep the adventure fun, while the feelings underneath it are familiar to kids who have ever doubted themselves, worried about getting it wrong, or wondered whether they were brave enough to keep going.

Scott Feld is a multiple award-winning, internationally bestselling author who has spent decades working with kids, although the inspiration behind Dax began much closer to home.
Scott dedicated the book to his son, Dax, who was eight years old when the book was written. That relationship helped shape the playful language Scott uses to talk about the thoughts, fears, and doubts children experience while they’re growing up.
Through his Power-UP work, Scott keeps turning big ideas into kid language: Stink Think, Power Thinking, Blobs, Power Pods, Prax, and the Inner Super Power he calls I.S.P.
His goal is to help kids become “Tougher Than Their Fears” by learning how to make their minds work for them, stay Powered-UP, and remember that their I.S.P. is already inside them.
Dax doesn’t reach the end of his adventure with a life where fear, mistakes, frustration, and doubt never show up again.
He begins learning how to recognize those moments and choose what he wants to do next.
That makes his story useful long after the final page.
